The solution that is bringing the WEB2.O is having an economical impact in the life of all the users of it. People aren’t aware of that but every time you use a WEB2.0 application you are saving time and money. The money you save is evidently impacting your personal finance and is this can be reproduced by too many people in one or different locations, in a city or in multiple cities or countries you could see a large and generalized effect. When you save time you are also saving money and this variable directly and indirectly impact the economy of this city. Probably you think I am exaggerating but when I show you some examples, probably you will be more secure about what I’m talking about.

The situation is that if you had to pay US$200 for promote your mandarin classes in different public places in the city now you can use your own camera and record some videos to promote your business. Then you can upload these videos in You Tube and in seconds you will have in touch in the rest of the world. When you do that, not only you will found too many people interested in the work you do, but you will also save more than US$200.00 to promote your business. Furthermore, you have to think that you didn’t need use any software to convert your videos or transform the format. The only thing you had to do was transferring the files from your camera to a folder in your computer and then uploads your promotional videos to You Tube. It means that you are saving more money in software and hardware. Once you need less software and hardware resources to make a task there is a tendency to a reduction of the price in software and hardware.

In the software industry is occurring something very interesting around the globe. The production of more and more open source software and the activity of imitate most of the proprietary software is forcing the Software industry to reduce the price of their products. With the hardware we perceive a reduction in the price but just as a natural effect of the tendency of the technology and if you put the additional elements of the WEB2.0 you will notice that the impact is more aggressive. I don’t want to talk about numbers and thousand million dollars but the WEB2.0 is making the traditional software packages that needed be operated in your personal computer or desktop can be operated from the web and the other special software such as video editing software, email software, ftp servers and others are services that you can get it for free in the internet.

In the computer realm, software needs hardware and hardware needs software and that’s why the market price of both has been reducing every year. Who is receiving the benefit of that? The consumer is receiving the benefit of that and the proprietary software is affected twice: by the piracy and the reduction of the price of software caused by the revolution of the WEB2.O. Also the computer manufacturers are joining more with the open source community to adapt Linux as main operating system in their equipments.
